United States’ fourth sale of F-16 aircraft (Peace Vector IV) to Egypt required the upgrade of an Egyptian Air Base to facilitate the aircraft. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hired Dillingham Construction International Inc. (DCII) to upgrade Sakara Air base located at Gianaclis, near Alexandria, Egypt. DCII built two runways (main and secondary), a main taxiway and 70 taxi tracks, two high speed entrance, a 15 km perimeter road, 35 shelters, six missile storage facilities, an F-16 work rack, fire station, water plant, power plant, accommodation area, security; maintenance shops, utility plants, roads; personnel support, and administration buildings training centers.
